A City Takes Root
North Ridgeville is founded by settlers from Waterbury, Connecticut. The city gets its name from five natural ridges running parallel to Lake Erie: Sugar Ridge, Chestnut Ridge, Butternut Ridge, Stoney Ridge, and Center Ridge. Originally called "Ridgeville Township," it was renamed "North Ridgeville" in 1829 to distinguish it from another Ridgeville in western Ohio.
The Turnpike Arrives
The Ohio Turnpike opens through North Ridgeville, transforming the quiet farming community into a suburb on the rise. By 1960, the population surpasses 8,000 and the city officially incorporates. Once known as "Ohio's Greenhouse Capital" for its thriving nursery industry, the city begins its shift toward suburban growth.
Wash Wizzard Opens
Ridgeville Wash Wizzard opens its doors at 35630 Center Ridge Road, establishing what would become North Ridgeville's oldest continuously operating car wash. The location is strategically positioned on 1.31 acres with dual access points on Center Ridge Road and Ridge Plaza Drive, right in the heart of the city's busiest commercial corridor.
Best of Lorain County
Readers of puLse Lorain County Magazine vote Ridgeville Wash Wizzard "Best Car Wash" in the annual Best of Lorain County awards. The honor is repeated in 2019 and again in 2022, proof that the community trusts the Wizzard to keep their rides sparkling.
Still Going Strong
North Ridgeville has grown to over 35,000 residents and is one of the fastest-growing cities in northern Ohio. Wash Wizzard is still here, open 24/7, with the same commitment to quality that earned the community's trust from day one. Our tunnel wash is currently being remodeled, but our touchless laser wash, five heated self-serve bays, and the area's only indoor pet wash stations are all open and ready to serve you.
